The World Health Organization has launched a public consultation on the draft Global Action Plan on Skin Diseases 2026–2035: Skin Health for All, following the adoption of resolution WHA78.15 at the World Health Assembly in May 2025.
The draft plan recognizes skin diseases as a major global public health concern, including both common conditions and neglected tropical diseases such as leprosy, onchocerciasis, and yaws. It outlines strategic actions to improve prevention, early detection, treatment, and long-term care.
The consultation aims to gather input from governments, researchers, civil society, and practitioners to refine the plan before its final adoption in 2027. Stakeholders are encouraged to review the draft and submit their feedback before 10 May 2026.
For organizations working in community health and neglected tropical diseases, this is a critical opportunity to influence global policy. Strengthening community-based surveillance, digital health systems, and early response mechanisms will be key to ensuring effective implementation, particularly in low-resource settings.

Kwa upande wa Kiswahili, World Health Organization imetoa wito kwa wadau duniani kushiriki katika mapitio ya rasimu ya Mpango wa Kimataifa wa Magonjwa ya Ngozi 2026–2035: Afya ya Ngozi kwa Wote, kufuatia azimio lililopitishwa katika World Health Assembly mwaka 2025.
Mpango huu unatambua magonjwa ya ngozi kama changamoto kubwa ya afya ya umma, ikiwa ni pamoja na magonjwa yaliyokuwa yakipuuzwa kama Leprosy, Onchocerciasis na Yaws. Unalenga kuboresha kinga, ugunduzi wa mapema, matibabu na huduma endelevu.
Ushirikishwaji huu wa maoni unalenga kukusanya mawazo kutoka kwa serikali, watafiti, mashirika ya kijamii na watoa huduma to improve the program before it is officially adopted in 2027. Wadau wanahimizwa kutoa maoni yao kabla ya tarehe 10 Mei 2026.
Kwa Tanzania, hii ni fursa muhimu ya kuchangia katika sera za kimataifa kwa kuzingatia uzoefu wa ndani, hususan katika kuimarisha ufuatiliaji wa magonjwa katika ngazi ya jamii, matumizi ya teknolojia za kidijitali, na mifumo ya mwitikio wa haraka.
